- Friday Night Yoga with Martina
Trinity is a collaboration of three of New Zealand’s leading new generation of female Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga teachers
-Martina Gotz, Stephanie Nelson and Kiri Sutherland.
All 3 woman practitioners with around 15 years experience each in this great tradition.
We love working together, teaching our first retreat at Te Moata in
the Coromandel in 2013, which has now become an annual event
and have other projects either all together, individually or with 2 of
us such as Steph and Kiri’s Rarotonga Winter Escapes.
It’s an inspiration teaching together…and lots of fun!

Kiri Sutherland has practiced ashtanga yoga since 2000. She has learnt the first three series from certified teacher Peter Sanson in New Zealand and is level 2 authorised by KPJAYI to teach the primary and intermediate series. In the last 10 years Kiri has taught traditional mysore-style classes in Wellington and Hawkes Bay, assisted in Peter Sanson Workshops and more recently conducted solo workshops in NZ and Kuala Lumpur. She teaches with gentle adjustments, enthusiasm and trust in the ashtanga method.
Stephanie first started practicing yoga in NYC in the mid nineties while taking a break from her graduate studies. She studied several different yoga traditions, Integral, Sivananda, Jivamukti, Iyengar, eventually discovering Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Soon after moving to New Zealand in 2002, she began a 2½year teaching apprenticeship in Ashtanga at the Auckland Yoga Academy (YA500). Since her graduation, Stephanie has been teaching yoga full time. She is the founder and director of Waiheke Island Ashtanga Yoga and The Breathing Space, an Experienced-RYT 500 instructor with the Yoga Alliance, an Alumni Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica Britomart, and leads YA200 and YA500 registered teacher training programs.
Stephanie regularly studies with senior certified Ashtanga teachers, Peter Sanson, Dena Kingsberg, and Mark Robberds. She has traveled to Mysore India and to the US to practice with the late Ashtanga Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy. She is ever grateful, humbled, and inspired by her teachers and her students.
Stephanie wishes to share this transformative yoga practice with all who are willing, inspire students to practice yoga daily, and have a bit of fun along the way. In addition to her passion for yoga, Stephanie has a dynamic family life with her partner and her three children. Life is rich and vibrant!
Martina Götz has practised yoga for over 20 years and has been teaching for more than 15 years, predominantly in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India.
She has travelled several times to India to study with the Jois family in Mysore.
Before Pattabhi Jois’s passing in 2009 she received authorisation and blessing to teach through his institute (KPJAYI) and attended a teaching training with Sharath in 2010. For more info see: www.kpjayi.org
She also practises regularly with Peter Sanson, Dena Kingsberg & Matthew Sweeney, and is certified to teach Matthew Sweeney’s Chandra & Simba Vinyasa Krama sequences.
In 2005 Martina was registered as an E-RYT 500 (Experienced -Registered Yoga Teacher 500 hours) through Yoga Alliance.
Her teaching is steeped in tradition yet accommodating to each individual students needs.
She teaches regular weekly classes in Auckland and workshops throughout New Zealand.
